We were honored to be a part of the Serenbe Showhouse this year thanks to the lovely designer, Melissa Galt.

One of our most popular tables aka “Maximus” that features a typography style design that also showcases a city highlights (Atlanta featured in the photo).

Since Serenbe has so many signature spots we focused on those for the design and words that completley describe the community itself. There are many design styles that radiate throughout Serenbe but it definitely has a modern vibe throughout it. We went with the popular raw steel color to match the modern metals featured on the home used in the showcase.

These signs were hung on both sides of the front porch and it made our hearts so happy that you could see them while walking up to the beautfiul home.  What a treat to be a part of something with so many talented people in the Atlanta area and also getting to see our work featured in a community that inspires us with it’s details.

We LOVE all designs and styles but one of our favorites has to be the industrial design style that features natural woods and vintage metals.

Many times people think that an industrial room will only consists of different metals but it’s about textures and woods along with metal accents. Many styles incorporate an industrial flair to them. Take for example a modern farmhouse inspired room that has industrial pipe shelves for the kitchen area – you would associate an industrial black pipe with a vintage industrial style but it also fits beautifully in a farmhouse home with white subway back splash tiles and light colored counter tops.

For us, it’s all about the metal accents. People say throw a “pop of color” in your style but we say throw a “pop of metal” in your decor.

To us industrial means “humble materials and hardworking style” or in other words, you can take a piece of vintage metal that’s been there, done that while making it awesome in any room. We  have always offered charging stations in commercial orders and projects we’ve done but now we are incorporating some new regular products you can purchase for your home.

We make it easy that if you want to change out the face plate with one of your own, you can do just that. The USB/outlet devices we use are geared towards charging your phones and computers. You can see some of the specs here:

You’ll notice that with most of our products we let you choose between powder coating or paint with our color options. Some products (all metal) we only offer in powder coating or the metal patina option – for example our new Brentwood Round Coffee Table.

Latex or Enamel Paint

Spray on paint offers a great finish for products inside the home. We do provide a protective clear coat on top of the paint for added protection. There’s always a chance of possible scratches and dings down the road with this type of paint. All around this option is a good choice if you want to keep the cost down a bit too.

Powder Coating

Powder coating is a high-quality finish that protects the roughest, toughest machinery as well as the household items you depend on daily. It’s a more durable finish than liquid paints can offer and are more resistant to diminished coating quality as a result of impact, moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light, and other extreme weather conditions. In turn, this reduces the risk of scratches, chipping, abrasions, corrosion, fading, and other wear issues. If you are looking to put any of our furniture outdoors, we highly recommend choosing the powder coat option for your product.

Powder coating pros versus using paint-

• It saves you money down the road from having to repaint over the paint.
• Long lasting, tough and durable.
• Scratch resistant.
• Chip resistant.
• Fade resistant.
• Weatherproof for outdoors.

Which is right for your home?

Completely up to you but if you have kids or your furniture will experience some wear and tear we recommend going with the powder coating option. It is a little more but it does save you time and money down the road.

Will we let you customize the signs? YES! You’ll be able to customize the color, size and if you’re feeling creative we can incorporate your idea into a design.

Do you have new colors for kids? You bet! We’ve added Fern Canopy, Graceful Gray, Morning Tea and Soft Turquoise. 

Can I pick a custom color to be used for the current color scheme I have going on in my kids room? Of course! All we need is the color code and brand name that any paint store can provide you with so we can match it.

The best way to explain it is that it’s a “process.” Just like things age over time, a patina finish put on metal/steel or zinc processes to bring out the raw metal textures, color and enhances the current metal look. Patina is a tarnish produced by chemical processes that forms on the surface of many types of metals. When exposed to the elements, a coating of various chemical compounds, such as oxides and carbonates form on the surface. Using this process, it creates a weathered appearance on the metal or zinc which will continue to change over time. So instead of having a solid painted product, you can choose the patina option where you keep that industrial/metal look over time while still attempting to match your current home decor.

The beauty of using patina on our products is that no piece is exactly the same depending on how the metal or zinc takes the patina when applied. We use patina color options on our steel, zinc and galvanized products.

That quote is one of the first things Will wrote to us as we started working together and it perfectly defines our creative minds. You may have seen some new metal signs popping up on at our shop lately. We’ve been working with an awesome crew here locally in GA that are some of the most down to earth people you could ever meet aside from loving what they do.

We’re constantly trying to find ways to stump these guys with a project and they always seem to nail everything we throw at them.

Zinc is great for tables, kitchen islands, accent tables and even for your outdoor space. We offer regular zinc but also additional patina color options to choose from. You can learn more about the patina process here.

Is zinc safe?

Yes! Zinc is an important mineral in the human body as you may be aware of. It has traditionally been used on Seafood and Oyster Bar tops so the bottom line is that it’s great for easy clean up with food (you’re welcome mom!).

Does zinc have a natural “patina” process over time?

Yes. As it ages and gets used, the color will deepen and will acquire a coveted pewter gray patina. Food and drink will also create their own pattern of use and will expedite the process of the oxidation and patina changes. If you would like to slow down the patina process, you can occasionally wax your zinc with clear Butchers or Bees wax.
